Handmade Goods Make Us Happy

Handmade goods say more about us, don't they? Everything we wear, eat or use does. To me, handmade goods have an element of quality but more importantly a uniqueness and a craftsmanship that no one else can have. Am I being romantic? Maybe. Am I eulogizing the end of handmade? Not a chance.
We work with partners on everything from handmade jewelry to handmade cards to handmade clothing. Even better, they are made by the folks we are trying to help. We hear their stories and tear up. Making these products in many cases is an art that has been passed down from generation to generation within many families. A livelihood that has been in some ways grown and some ways shrank.
Industrialization has caused a commoditization of many of these types of products. Having said that, the internet has opened up the world handmade goods in a way that could never have been imagined.
So why is handmade, better? Share your answer below!
We believe it has everything to do with quality, personalization, and sustainability. To us, the only negative we see is the potential additional costs involved in production. Seems like a small price to pay for all of the above.
